Arsenal 1-0 QPR
Robin van Persie set a new club record with 35 English Premier League goals in a single calendar yea, eclipsing Thierry Henry’s 34 in 2005. He fell one short of Alan Shearer’s league record.
van Persie’s 17th goal of the season was all Arsenal needed to take all three points and move back ahead of Liverpool in the Top 5.
Liverpool 3-1 Newcastle
Liverpool moved level on points with Chelsea with a well earned win at home to the faltering Newcastle. Steven Gerrard marked his return to the side with a late goal.
Manchester United 2-3 Blackburn
Blackburn continued their giant killing by stunning the Premiers at Old Trafford. Yakubu continued his fantastic run of form against the top sides netting a brace and Hanley scored the 80th minute winner.
Bolton 1-1 Wolves
Two of the lead candidates to be relegated gave little fight against that consensus as Bolton and Wolves played out an unentertaining 1 all draw.
Chelsea 1-3 Aston Villa
Villa stunned Chelsea at home, who have so quickly gone from the most consistent home team in the league to one of the least. Chelsea led early with a Drogba penalty but a quick reply and two late goals saw Villa propel Arsenal above Chelsea into fourth place on the table.
Norwich 1-1 Fulham
Fulham and Norwich played out a competitive 1-1 draw as both teams looked to improve on their lacklustre season and below expected table positions.
Stoke 2-2 Wigan
Wigan continued their puzzling form, earning a tough point away to Stoke City. Stoke will be upset they weren’t able to capitalise on Newcastle losing to Liverpool.
Swansea 1-1 Tottenham
Tottenham missed a glorious chance to extend their lead over Chelsea and Arsenal, failing to close out Swansea away.
